Grinch Smoothie

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch! Whether you want to make a fun Christmas treat or celebrate Dr. Seuss day in style you will love this grinch smoothie! This grinch smoothie is easy to make and your kids will love it.

We are huge Dr. Seuss fans at our house. One of my son’s favorite books is Green Eggs and Ham and my daughter loves Mr. Brown Can Moo but for Christmas we love reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas! I love that these books are such classics both my husband and I remember them from our childhoods and it’s just an awesome thing to be able to share these books with our kids.

What do I need to make this grinch smoothie?

To make this smoothie you will need:

  • Plastic cup
  • Permanent marker
  • One ripe banana
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 1 kiwi fruit
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2/3 cup of coconut milk (you may also use regular, almond, or soy)

If you are making this recipe for Christmas, kiwis should still be in season if you’re in the US. Most kiwis are grown and California and harvested between November and January. Avocados may not be in season but you may find some imported or you can always use frozen avocado for this recipe. I have been seeing frozen avocado more and more at all the big name grocery stores in my area which is awesome.

Is this recipe kid friendly?

This recipe is great for kids, there’s no added sugar. The avocados are incredibly nutritious and have a lot of good fat (omega-3 fatty acids). There’s also banana which is loaded with potassium. Kiwis have lots of vitamin C and are great for digestion.

The kids will also love how green this smoothie is and the grinch face!

What type of milk should I use in this smoothie?

The great thing about this smoothie (and most other smoothies) is that you can add almost any type of milk and the smoothie will still be great. Feel free to use regular milk, soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.

Can you taste the avocado?

If you’re worried your child might not like the avocado, don’t worry! The avocado is very smooth when blended and well hidden by the kiwi and banana.
